About us
Illinois Institute of Technology, abbreviated as Illinois Tech, is a private research university located in Chicago, Illinois. It was established in 1890. The university has five campuses in the Chicago area. The main campus of Illinois Tech sprawls across 120 acres and comprises five colleges, one academic school, many research centers, and several residence halls. The total enrollment of Illinois Tech is 7000 students, out of whom 46 percent are international students. The university offers some of the best study abroad courses for international students, including undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering, business, science, design, etc. Illinois Tech is deemed among R2: Doctoral Universities with High Research Activities. The university is home to 150 plus student clubs and 21 athletic activities. Illinois Tech is the proud Alma Mater of many notable alumni, including Nobel Laureate Jack Steinberger, Florence Knoll, and Sanjay Kirloskar.
