James Madison University, abbreviated as JMU, Madison, is a public-funded research university located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. JMU, Madison was established in 1908 as the State Normal and Industrial School for Women and became a full-fledged university in 1977. The JMU, Madison campus sprawls across 721 acres and includes seven colleges, namely - the College of Arts and Letters; the College of Business; the College of Education; the College of Health and Behavioral Studies; the College of Integrated Science and Engineering; the College of Science and Mathematics; the College of Visual and Performing Arts; and The Graduate School. The university has a total population of 22000 students who are enrolled in 150 plus degree programs.
