Found in 1904, offering specialisations under different names till 1970, Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology was launched as an independent public technical institute in the year 1971. Being the largest government-funded, public tertiary education institute in New Zealand, it is a New Zealand Quality Assurance approved Category 1 and ISO 9001 certified education provider.
