About us

Founded in 1923, Texas Tech University is one of the most popular public research universities in the United States. Through its 13 academic schools and colleges, the university offers more than 150 undergraduate courses, 100 graduate courses, and 50 doctoral programs. Texas Tech University offers a moderate admissions policy with an acceptance rate of 70%. The university enrolled approximately 40,666 students in the fall of 2021. At Texas Tech University, 33,256 students pursue undergraduate programs and 7,410 students pursue graduate and law programs. For the fall and summer semesters, students must apply by January 15, and for the spring semesters, they must apply by June 15. Over 460 organizations at the university provide students with the opportunity to explore their creative interests. A few notable alumni of the university are Demetrio B. Lakas, President of the Republic of Panama; Astronaut Rick Husband, the final commander of Space Shuttle Columbia; John Burroughs, Governor of New Mexico; Donny Anderson, winner of Super Bowl I & Super Bowl II, and many more.
