Established in its current name in 1994, Unitec Institute of Technology is one of the largest institutes of technology in New Zealand, edifying more than 20,000 students including 2,035 international students, offering 150+ career-oriented, employment-focussed programmes in affiliation with the International Association of Universities across its 3 campuses based in Waitakere, Albany and Mt. Albert in Auckland, New Zealand. The main campus based in Mt. Albert provides an array of 70-degree programs of which 14 are post-graduation programs, 19 are bachelor’s degree programs and 17 others are diploma and certificate courses. Some of the popular streams offered are Performing Arts, Science, Engineering, Commerce & Banking, Hotel Management, Media & Mass Communication, Management, and Nursing. The institute has in place a student council that helps in the university’s internal and external coordination, manages student clubs and sports groups, and provides support to international students in terms of counselling, etc. The university also helps students with on and off-campus accommodation assistance. The institute has been home to several prominent personalities as a part of its alumni base.
