About us
The University at Albany is a well-reputed open research university, located 159 miles away from New york. Established in 1844, this was the first university in the city to offer a bachelor’s degree. The campus is now split into two parts- The uptown and the Downtown campus. These comprise of nine different schools and colleges offering multiple courses. The main attractions of the uptown campus include the library, performing art center, the Atmospheric Sciences Research Centre. The downtown campus has Rockefeller College of Policy and Public Affairs, College of Information Technology, School of Criminal Justice, and the School of Social Welfare. The university is affiliated with the State University of New York. It has a network of celebrated alumni, including Omar Yaghi, Alanna Schepartz, Joachim Frank, and Harvey Milk. The University at Albany currently has over 17,944 students from all over the world.
