The University of Alabama at Birmingham, also termed AUB, is a public research university in Birmingham, Alabama. It was founded in 1936. The UAB campus occupies 100 city blocks and encapsulates twelve academic divisions, a medical center, seven residence halls, and several recreational infrastructures. The total enrollment of UAB is 22000 students, out of whom 5 percent are international students. Thus, UAB has become one of the best places to study abroad for international students. The university offers 69 undergraduate courses and 174 graduate programs in diverse disciplines such as medicine, dentistry, nursing, business, etc. The University of Alabama at Birmingham is deemed among R1: Doctoral Universities with Very High Research Activities. Moreover, UAB is home to 250 student organizations and more than 16 intercollegiate sports. Lastly, UAB is the proud Alma Mater of many notable alumni, including Diedre Downs, Larry Langford, and Clayton Colvin.
