Founded in 1890, the University of North Texas (UNT) is a public research-intensive institution situated in Texas. This institute was given its university status in 1961 and came to exist as North Texas State University. Soon, UNT became a part of the University of North Texas System and got affiliated to the Universities Research Association (URA), Southern Association of Colleges, Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and Schools (SACS), and the Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU). In 1992 it joined the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU). Situated right at the heart of Denton city, the main campus of UNT sprawls over an area of 1,200 acres. The university also has plans of unveiling its satellite campus in 2023 in Frisco, which is at a distance of 41 km from its main campus. The University of North Texas (UNT) includes two schools, eleven colleges, and a science and mathematics academy. The institution offers more than 105 undergraduates, 88 postgraduate and 38 doctoral degree programmes for a diverse variety of courses. Around 31,405 students have enrolled themselves in UNT in various undergraduate programmes, and 6,676 of them have enrolled in postgraduate programmes. The institution has more than 2,520 international students coming from different parts of 50 countries and makes up 6.6% of the total student population. The university offers almost 66% of the students financial aid while all the others get scholarships or grants of some kind or the other.
