Incepted in 1972, Western Institute of Technology (WITT) is one of the largest government led tertiary education public institutes in Taranaki region of New Zealand. Being one of the fastest growing institutes, it spreads over two campuses around Tranaki, having its main campus in New Plymouth, and the other one located in Hawera. The main campus offers students with all the academic, recreational and residential facilities featuring sophisticated amenities like digital classrooms, cafeterias, and a world-class online and physical library; surrounded by many social, commercial and entertainment. The institute is recognised for its research works, and provides the students with many live researches to work upon. Hosting more than 5000 students, the institute offers a unique academic curriculum through undergraduate, postgraduate degrees, diploma and certificate programmes in areas of arts and design, business and management, language, IT, tourism and hospitality, energy, oil and gas, engineering, administration, and nursing; all taught by highly experienced and qualified staff, comprising of professionals and industry experts visiting as guest lecturers.
