Western Washington University, abbreviated as WWU, is a public-funded university located in Bellingham, Washington. Established in 1893 as the state-sponsored New Whatcom Normal School, WWU was granted full-fledged university status in 1977. The WWU main campus in Bellingham sprawls across 215 acres and is 90 miles north of Seattle. The branch campuses off WWU are located in Anacortes and Lakewood. Western Washington comprises six colleges: College of Business and Economics, College of Fine and Performing Arts, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Science and Engineering, and Woodring College. Furthermore, it includes three graduate schools. The university has a total population of 16000 plus students enrolled in 150 major and minor degrees. Western Washington is one of the highest-ranking public universities in the Pacific Northwest and one of the most affordable, thus, being one of the best places to study abroad.
