About us
Founded in 1963, Green River College is a public community college based in Auburn, Washington, with satellite campuses in downtown Auburn, Enumclaw, and Kent. It primarily awards associate degrees, but also offers nine bachelor's degrees. In addition to offering certificate, associate, and applied baccalaureate degrees, Green River College also offers classes to prepare students for academic transfer to a four-year college or university; more than 40 professional and technical programs; and classes in Adult Basic Education for non-native speakers of English.
It is home to approximately 10,000 students. As a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC), Green River competes in the Western Region. The college athletic teams are referred to as the Gators. Some popular alumni of Green River College are Tony Barron, former MLB player ; David Riske, MLB player ; Tony Tost, poet, critic, and screenwriter ; Jessica Bateman, member of the Washington House of Representatives ; Doug Sisk, MLB player and Mark Emmert, president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
