About us
Ohio Wesleyan University, also known as OWU, is a private liberal arts university that is based in Delaware, Ohio, chartered in 1842. It is a United Methodist Church-associated college with nearly 90 undergraduate majors, some of the most popular being zoology, psychology, and business administration. Primarily notable for its mode of operation known as the "OWU Connection,” this university embraces knowledge bearing the principles of scholarly academics, professional learning, internships, and international exposure.
Its beautiful, spacious premises that spread over 200 acres include the Schimmel Conrades Science Centre, Meek Aquatics and Recreation Centre, Perkins Observatory, and facilities that were already mentioned. OWU offers more than 95 student clubs and societies and is a Battling Bishops NCAA Division III institution with approximately 1,600 students in its community.
Being a member of the Higher Learning Commission, OWU is one of the leading liberal arts colleges. Some of the notable graduates include Branch Rickey, the man who signed Jackie Robinson, and Mary King, a noted civil rights activist.
