The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), formerly known as Ontario Tech University (OTU) and Ontario Tech, operates as a public research university in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. There are two campuses of the university in Oshawa, with the main campus located on approximately 160 hectares (400 acres) of land and the secondary campus located in downtown Oshawa. It is a coeducational institution with eight academic faculties, including the Faculty of Graduate Studies. A wide range of programs are offered by UOIT, including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees. As a result of these programs, students are provided with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in advanced roles in high-demand fields.
Approximately 10,100 undergraduates and 970 graduate students were enrolled at the university in 2021. Over 25,500 alumni are affiliated with the university as of 2022. Ontario Tech Ridgebacks participate in Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS), and their sports include rowing, curling, golf, badminton, as well as men's and women's hockey, basketball, and soccer. With a 70% acceptance rate, Ontario Tech University is a highly selective institution.
