Recognised under its current name in 1994, the university began its life in 1970 as a teacher’s college. Presently recognised as one of the renowned Australian public institutions, Southern Cross University is spread in multiple locations having 5 of its campuses in New South Wales and Queensland and two satellite campuses in Sydney and Melbourne. Over 10,500 students, including 5000+ international students from over 60 countries, particularly from the Indo-Pacific region and India to be specific, are educated by the university, offering them to choose from a wide variety of streams like arts, science, business, law, engineering, tourism and hospitality, education and many more. The course design is aligned with industry trends to provide students with work placement opportunities. The international students are also offered several postgraduate research courses with scholarships. The university has been ranked #751-800 in QS World University Rankings in 2020 and is under the top 100 universities within Asia-Pacific region.
