About us
Southwestern University, established in Georgetown, Texas, is the oldest university in the state, founded in 1840. Despite being a private liberal arts college, it has 40 undergraduate programs in arts, sciences, fine arts, music, interdisciplinary, and pre-professional fields. The university holds membership in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges as well as the National Association of Schools of Music.
It occupies about 700 acres of land and has such landmarks as the A. Frank Smith Library Centre and the Lois Perkins Chapel.
Among the rankings, it has been mentioned in Loren Pope’s ‘Colleges That Change Lives’ and is devoted to meaningful change.
