The University of Arizona is a public institution of higher learning located in Tucson, Arizona. Founded in 1885 by the 13th Arizona Territory Legislature, it is the first university in the Arizona Territory. Operated by the Arizona Board of Regents, the University of Arizona provides an accessible and engaging environment that inspires students to achieve their goals. The campus is spread over 380 acres in downtown Tucson. The north and south sides of the campus are separated by a lawn called the shopping mall, and the west and east are roughly divided by the Student Union and Highland Avenue. The University of Arizona has more than 600 multicultural, charitable, academic, athletic, social, and student clubs and campus organizations. At present, the University of Arizona enrolls approximately 45,918 students enrolled in 20 different colleges. The university offers approx 300 plus undergraduate and graduate degree programs and applied learning opportunities for students to choose from. The university boasts outstanding faculty who are recognized worldwide for scholarships, service, and leadership by world-renowned academic societies and programs.
