About us
De Montfort University, alternately known as DMU, is a public university in Leicester, England. It was founded in 1870 as Leicester School of Design and granted full-fledged university status in 1992. The campus of DMU comprises four academic faculties, ten residence halls, four library sites, the Campus Centre, and other recreational infrastructures. De Montfort University offers international scholarships worth 1500 GBP to undergraduate and postgraduate international students, making DMU one of the most affordable places to study abroad. The total enrollment of DMU is 29000 students, out of whom 2700 are international from 130 countries. The university offers 300 courses at the foundation, graduate, and undergraduate levels in diverse fields as design, health, humanities, etc. The research and innovation fact of DMU is top-notch, with 60 percent of its research activities recognized as ‘internationally excellent’ by the Research Excellence Framework. DMU is home to 150 student clubs and several athletic teams. Some of the famous alumni of De Montfort University are Emma Twigg, Angela Smith, and Charles Dance.
