VISA PROCESS

If you are thinking of pursuing your higher education or want to go to the USA to complete your further studies as an international student, then you need a USA student visa. To pursue any degree program in the USA, students must have a valid student visa to stay and complete their study program. Students can choose among the suitable visa types according to their course.

USA STUDENT VISA CATEGORIES:

Below are three types of USA student visa that gives students the right to stay in the USA and complete their chosen course from a recognized USA university or college:

  1. F Student Visa: F student visa is for international students who want to pursue any full-time courses from an accredited USA institute.
  2. J Exchange Student Visa: As the name suggests, a J exchange student visa is for students who study in an exchange program at any recognized USA university.
  3. M Student Visa: This visa type is for students enrolled in non-academic or training courses in an accredited USA institute.

According to the USA student visa guidelines, international students who have F1 visas are allowed to work part-time for 20 hours a week during their studies. Moreover, students can work full-time during breaks or holidays on and off campus.

COST OF VISA

The cost of a USA student visa is around USD  160. Students can pay the visa application fee through credit card, cash, or NEFT online transfer. In addition, the students must pay the SEVIS fee.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

Below is the list of all the documents necessary to apply for the USA student visa application: 

  1. Letter of enrollment from a recognized USA university.
  2. Signed and completed visa application
  3. Valid national passport (proof of residency)
  4. Proof of health or medical insurance
  5. Proof of residence in the USA 
  6. Financial Evidence: Once the students get their letter of acceptance, they are given an I-20 document that contains all the financial requirement information that students need to fulfill to study in the USA. The funds should be 1.5 times more than the amount mentioned in the I-20 document.
  7. A document confirming as proof for a scholarship to study in the USA (if applicable)

Apart from the tuition fee, the living costs in the USA is around USD 1,000 to 1,400 per month.

Students also need to submit the following docs:

  1. Visa application fee receipt
  2. Proof of tuition fee payment 
  3. English proficiency test scores or certificate
  4. GRE/GMAT score card (if applicable) 
  5. Passport size photograph
  6. Birth certificate (in English)
  7. Academic documents or high school official transcripts
  8. Cover letter 
  9. Letter of Recommendation (Three)

 

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE STUDY VISA

Students must follow these steps to apply for a USA student visa:

Step 1: Students need a letter of enrollment and a valid passport from their home country.

Step 2: Make your account online on the official student visa website. 

Step 3: Fill in all the required details in your visa application after registering on the student visa application portal. 

Step 4: After completing the form, students must schedule an appointment or interview with the nearest US embassy in their home country.

Step 5: Students can pay the visa application fee after the interview and have to wait for visa processing once they are done with the personal interview.
